The Fonic diffuser works by scattering sound waves. This is useful when problematic reflections need to be reduced without adding more absorption to the room. The Fonic diffusers are designed to work between 270Hz and 1600Hz where troublesome reflections occur. They are designed to have even diffusion across the useful range.

Fonic diffusers are made from a hard skin bonded to acoustic foam so that they do not ring or resonate. They can be used to reduce hard specular reflections that cause problems like flutter echoes and interference. They are most useful on a rear wall in a vertical orientation, spread apart by about 1 metre.
